Mr. Gideon was reared in upstate New York, where he gained extensive knowledge of smokeless tobacco products and Genesee beer. Eventually, the warm climate and boating potential of Virginia came calling, and these days you can usually find him at his local Moose Lodge with Brandon Iron and The Continental. Alix will be writing weekly, divulging the reasons why everything was better when he was growing up than it is for today's youngsters.
